Commission-free booking software charges a flat plan instead of a percentage of the appointment. You still may pay a card processor, and NxtSeat may take a small flat platform fee on card charges. Venmo, Cash App, and cash do not go through that card fee. Tips stay yours. That is the whole distinction.
Booking commission vs paying for cards
A booking commission is a cut of the haircut because the platform sat in the middle of the booking. Card processing is what Visa and Stripe charge to move money. They are not the same. Plenty of pages blur them on purpose.
Why the distinction matters
If you already filled the chair, a commission is a tax on work you did. A $9 or $20 month you can point to is a tool. A 20% surprise on a new marketplace client is a different product.
